Full-time (part time considered)

Home-based with regular meetings in Hampshire
Salary: Pro rata £35,000–£40,000 per annum (full-time equivalent)
Location: Primarily Sussex, Hampshire, Surrey and Kent with some work further afield

This is an exciting opportunity to join an award-winning heritage and planning consultancy working with a wide range of clients across the south of England.

We are seeking an experienced Heritage Consultant to support our growing portfolio of work, providing high-quality, pragmatic heritage advice.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work primarily on projects across Sussex, Hampshire, Surrey and Kent, delivering heritage advice to support development within the historic environment.

The role is home-based, with regular team meetings in south Hampshire, and offers flexibility alongside the opportunity to work collaboratively within a supportive and knowledgeable team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing heritage reports, including Heritage Statements, Heritage Impact Assessments and supporting documentation for planning applications
  • Advising clients on heritage constraints, opportunities and mitigation strategies
  • Undertaking desk-based research and site visits to assess heritage significance
  • Liaising with Local Planning Authorities, Conservation Officers and project teams
  • Liaison with clients, our in house architectural team and our associated external consultant team.
  • Contributing to the delivery of high-quality, proportionate heritage advice

About You

  • A passion for the historic environment
  • At least 3 years’ professional experience in a heritage role within either private consultancy or the public sector (applications from those with slightly less experience will also be considered)
  • A relevant degree in heritage, archaeology, conservation, planning or a related field
  • Full IHBC membership or working towards it is desirable
  • CIFA membership is desirable
  • Good working knowledge of UK heritage legislation, policy and guidance
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment
