Julia Hayes Williams
Julia began her studies at Queen’s University Belfast, earning a BSc in Architecture, before going on to complete a Master’s in Conservation of Historic Buildings at Bath University. Her academic journey gave her a solid grounding in conservation principles, materials and techniques along with the theoretical side.
During her Master’s, Julia worked with a top conservation firm, getting involved in projects like restoring Grade II listed buildings and conserving medieval sites. She often teamed up with organisations such as CADW, the National Trust, and Historic England, managing the tricky balance between preserving heritage and meeting modern safety requirements.
Julia has also collaborated with renowned professionals during her time in both small and medium sized practices in both rural and city locations. These experiences have helped her appreciate the stories behind historic buildings in all settings and for all uses. Notably, she played a key role in renovating a Grade I Listed medieval mansion, researching and applying authentic materials and techniques.
Throughout her professional career, Julia has developed expertise across a diverse range of projects. Her experience spans the restoration and management of Listed dwellings, church reordering and repair, as well as delivering high-end residential interiors. Additionally, Julia has worked extensively on art and leisure initiatives, including everything from new builds to the careful restoration of existing structures.
